Exchange Interpreters- Angela Chen

Precious memories hidden in my heart forever

Angela Chen is the luckiest person living in Shandan. Yes, I admit.

As the first English interpreter to learn English at ARA and build up NZ cultural background sent by Shandan government, I feel extremely honored. Taking this opportunity, I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Selwyn Council, Selwyn Sister Cities Committee, Ara Institute, and all people who give me warm concern and support.

I’ve been NZ for three times. The first time was in 2013,  the second and third times were in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Every time the companions change, but the hospitality and friendliness from NZ friends are constant. Spending 5 months in Selwyn and Christchurch benefits me a lot, which makes me more competent with my job, more importantly, opens a new perspective of my understanding the world.

Last year, The God of luck came again. I changed my job and began to work for the newly-built Bailie Vocational College, which enrolls students this autumn. Although the workload is heavy and I often work overtime, I feel very fulfilled and happy.

My NZ friends. I am waiting for you in Shandan, Love you all.
