Selwyn and Shandan People to People

Shandan Acknowlegement to Selywn Mayor

Kia ora mayor Sam Broughton

Thank you for your Christmas greetings and concern!

In the year 2020, with the care and support of you and the people of Selwyn, the friendship and cooperation between two cities have been fruitful. In Shandan, We have made some achievements in inheriting Rewi Alleys’ career. Rewi Alley Memorial and Museum of cultural relics donated by Rewi Alley has been completed and opened as scheduled; The old Shandan Bailie school has moved into Bailie Vocational College, implementing the integrated school running mode of secondary and higher vocational education. In the first phase, 500 higher vocational students, 2223 secondary vocational students and 410 adult education students have been enrolled, with a total number of 3133 students in school; the overall transformation and upgrading project of Shandan Bailie school has been completed. Rewi Alleys’ spirit of hard work and the vocational education thought of “hand and brain, creative and analysis” are carried forward and inherited in Shandan.

Recently, it is gratifying to know that the website of sister cities in selwin district is under construction and will focus on Rewi Alleys’ love for Shandan. We will further strengthen communication and keep in touch with Chairman Allison, providing all-round support and help to build the website into a window and platform to show the great achievements of Shandan and New Zealand friendship.

On behalf of myself and the people of Shandan, I wish you and your family and the people of selwin a peaceful and peaceful new year. I also wish us a happy cooperation and lasting friendship in the new year!

Your old friend Feng Jun
